PROGRAM OVERVIEW

  • Designed for healthcare professionals, billing professionals, people interested in the business aspect of healthcare and office managers.
  • Learn to collect, analyze, and manage the information steering today’s healthcare industry.
  • Training in insurance and medical claims processing in accordance with professional, legal, and insurance industry standards.




PREREQUISITES

  • High school diploma or G.E.D
  • Proficiency in English (written and verbal)
  • No prior criminal convictions of any kind




PROGRAM HOURS

  • 240 contact hours (160 hours didactic, 20 hours mock lab and 60 hours externship)




INSTRUCTOR INFORMATION

  • Certified medical billing and coding specialist with 3 years experience in billing and insurance.
  • Experienced in hospital or physician offices billing and coding
  • Currently working in this field




CERTIFICATION

  • Prepares students for three certification exams:
    • Certifying Coding Associate or CCA exam offered by the American Health Information Management Association or AHIMA
    • Certified Billing and Coding Specialist or CBCS exam offered by the National Healthcareer Association
    • Certified Professional Coder or CPC exam offered by the American Academy for Professional Coders or AAPC.
